Top 10 online jackpots of 2019

23 Dec 2019

By Dan Ippolito
Last week, we took a look at the biggest land-based jackpots of the calendar year.

However, some of the largest payouts of 2019 came from slot games at online casinos. As we enter the Christmas week and bring 2019 to a close, we cover the top 10 online jackpots of the year.

10. €1.4 million
About a month ago on 25 November, a Swedish player won the sum that kicks off our 2019 list.

While playing Arabian Nights at Hajper Casino, the player landed five Aladdin wild symbols in free spins mode. This caused a massive payout of €1.4 million.

“Arabian Nights is such a legendary game in the jackpot segment. It has created instant millionaires continuously since its release back in 2005. We are thrilled the game yet again has delivered a life-changing win and would like to extend our congratulations to the player,” said Bryan Upton, NetEnt Director of Games.

This slot game was one of the first jackpot games released by NetEnt.

9. €1,510,172
Back in late August, Spain’s biggest casino jackpot was won by a Codere player.

On Playtech’s Gladiator Road to Rome, the player received a €1,510,172.82 payout, 10 times more than the size of Spain’s previous jackpot. With this jackpot, Playtech has dished out €7.3 million in jackpots since April 2015.

Ángel Fernández, Global Brand and Marketing Director at Codere, adds, “Everyone at Codere is very excited to have contributed to one of our clients achieving this win. Gladiator: Road to Rome is a hugely popular game for us, with the progressive jackpot proving a major draw. Many congratulations to our lucky client on their amazing win!”

8. £1,300,889
Earlier in the summer, a NetBet Casino player was using the Siberian Storm slot before winning a life-changing amount.

On 9 June, the player hit the progressive jackpot feature, MegaJackpots, to win £1,300,889.76. Players in recent years have had some success with MegaJackpots. In 2015, there were five consecutive weeks of MegaJackpots wins. The range of those five wins were from £511,000 to £1.37 million.

7. €2.5 million
Since Sweden’s online casino regulation changes came into effect on 1 January, a Swedish player became the first to win NetEnt’s progressive jackpot on Mega Fortune in May.

The 37-year-old player was on Hyper Casino using Mega Fortune when a sizeable sum of €2.5 million (26,958,246 SEK) dropped on the gambler.

“Unreal, it’s unbelievable. I do not really consider myself lucky other than for this jackpot. My biggest win prior to this big win was of approximately 10,000 SEK,” says the winner.

“We’re absolutely thrilled with this huge win and would like to congratulate the lucky winner on his life-changing jackpot. This just shows that Hyper Casino is one of the best gaming destinations for players and we hope that we’ll soon be celebrating many more big winners in the near future,” said Hyper Casino Marketing Director, Tony Leone.

6. €3.04 million
Yggdrasil progressive slot games have paid out three major jackpots in the last year, including one form 25 September.

A mobile Casumo player was on the provider’s Joker Millions game when striking a €3.04 million win. She was betting just €0.50 on her phone before seeing the bonus trigger and the massive sum get transferred to her online balance.

Fredrik Elmqvist, CEO at Yggdrasil, said, “To have three mega jackpot prizes drop in just 10 months is amazing, and I’m delighted we’re able to reward loyal Yggdrasil slot fans with gigantic prizes. This is a dream come true for such a new mobile player and we’re thrilled it took place on Casumo, one of our major partners."

5. €3,252,353
Microgaming’s Mega Moolah got into the Christmas giving spirit early this year last month.

On 8 November, a player in the U.K., won a seven-figure prize after placing a €7.25 bet on the slot game at Genesis Casino.

The €3,252,353.70 payout was awarded as a lump sum to the anonymous player.

4. €3.3 million
Turning a 50-cent-bet into a payout of over €3 million doesn’t happen often. Yet, that is what happened for a British player on Gate 777.

The €3.3 million win occurred while the player was using NetEnt’s Mega Fortune in September.

“We are thrilled that Mega Fortune has again created another instant multi-millionaire and delivered a life-changing win. Since their releases, Mega Fortune and its sibling titles have generated an astonishing 60 one-million-plus euro jackpots,” said Bryan Upton, NetEnt Director of Games.

3. €4,333,667
Even though it wasn’t risking just 50 cents like the Gate 777 player, a 65-year-old woman at Betsson Casino & Live Casino changed a minor bet into a massive reward.

While playing NetEnt’s Mega Fortune Dreams, the woman took home €4,333,667.97 from the five-reel, three-row slot game. The 20-line game also features wild substitutions, free spins with multipliers, re-spins and a triple progressive jackpot bonus game, which increases the chances of big wins.

“We are thrilled to announce the latest jumbo jackpot winner on Mega Fortune Dreams,” said Henrik Fagerlund, Managing Director, NetEnt Malta. “Players know that the game is proven to pay out the biggest prizes – just as this €4.3 million windfall shows – and we are delighted for the latest recipient of a life-changing sum.”

2. £4.3 million
Winning at a casino is always a reason to celebrate, but how about getting 4 million reasons to celebrate?

Sean Doyle, a 33-year-old, pocketed £4.3 million on Mars Attacks! at Paddy Power Casino on 13 February.

The chef from Northern Ireland was lucky enough to win the Jackpot King prize from the Blueprint Gaming slot.

Mike Phelan, Commercial Director at Paddy Power Gaming, said, “This sums up why Blueprint Gaming’s progressive jackpot system is a key component of our games offering. Jackpot King allows our players to win staggering amounts of money at the spin of a reel, while also raising excitement levels and delivering increased revenues.

1. $5.9 million
Microgaming’s Mega Moolah hits our list for the second time, and the largest amount awarded in 2019.

A JackpotCity Casino player came away with $5.9 million in August after placing just 25 bets for $5 each.

The Canada-based player was in the midst of a 94-minute gaming session that turned into a life-changing experience.

The progressive jackpot has been reset and continues to climb in value.
