Much like Canada and Germany, online gaming in Argentina is currently licensed and regulated at the provincial or state level. Only players from the licensing region are allowed to play at the regulated casinos.

By late 2025, online gambling had been legalized in more than 20 of the 24 Argentine jurisdictions, with only a small number still without active operators, and legal products typically including online casino, sports betting, poker and bingo.

Online gaming in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires is now legal and regulated under a separate framework from the Province of Buenos Aires.

In November 2018, legislators in Buenos Aires received the new Budget Bill 2019, which includes plans to license and regulate online gambling in the province for the first time. Many of the online gambling details were undecided, but the goal was to allow licensing for up to seven online operators that would be overseen by the local Instituto Provincial de Lotería y Casinos. Licenses would be valid for a maximum 15-year term, and online gambling revenue would be taxed at a rate of 15%, plus an administrative payment to the regulator of no less than 2% of revenue.

In June 2019, the Province of Buenos Aires launched the process to select seven online gaming licensees, with 14 operators competing for certification in the market. In January 2021, the president of the Buenos Aires’ Provincial Institute of Lotteries and Casinos awarded online operating licenses to seven gaming companies, including brands owned by William Hill, Playtech and Betsson.
