Team PokerStars prevails 3-0 in heads-up play at London Poker Festival

11 Mar 2013

LONDON -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Team PokerStars.eu crushed the Full Tilt Poker "Professionals" in the Full Tilt v PokerStars Heads Up contest held Sunday at the London Poker Festival with a clean sweep of all three matches.

Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier (PokerStars) defeated Victor "Isildur1" Blom (Full Tilt Poker) 3-0.

Isaac "Ike" Haxton (PokerStars) defeated Tom "durrrr"
Dwan (Full Tilt Poker) 2-1.

Daniel "Kid Poker" Negreanu (PokerStars) defeated Gus Hansen (Full Tilt Poker) 3-0.

Each of the PokerStars players has won $50,000 from their Full Tilt Poker opponent. In addition, Full Tilt Poker will be paying $10,000 of tournament buy-ins to each member of the victorious team.

This glorious victory is the perfect warm-up for Negreanu, Haxton and Grospellier ahead of the European Poker Tour London main event. Each PokerStars player will be playing in Day 1B of EPT London today (Monday, 11 March).

Each match consisted of three single-table heads-up tournaments played simultaneously. The Full Tilt players only managed to win one of the nine tournaments – a comprehensive demolition by the superior PokerStars players who were better prepared.

“I did predict a 3-0 sweep! Really proud of my team, and preparing for the match was a great bonding and learning experience. The whole team contributed, even those that didn’t play, including Vanessa Selbst, Eugene Katchalov and Jason Mercier,” said Team PokerStars Captain Daniel Negreanu.
“I’m really proud of how prepared Team PokerStars was,” he added.

It is understood that the vanquished Full Tilt Poker team was licking their wounds last night, but already the defeated team is seeking a rematch to avenge their loss.
