UNCASVILLE, Connecticut -- Two Vanessas and a Scott dominated Day 3 of the PokerStars.net North American Poker Tour Mohegan Sun Main Event on Friday.

Vanessa Selbst, who began the day third in chips with 542,600, continued to dominate the field. Selbst had 2.1 million in chips before dinner. And she ended the day as the chip leader with 2.285 million.

Vanessa Rousso began the day with 145,300. By dinner, Rousso had 981,000. And she ended the day in 14th with 720,000.

Scott Seiver started the day with 40,400. By dinner, Seiver had a little more than 2.5 million. And he ended the day with 2.24 million. Selbst and Seiver alone control 21 percent of the chips in play.

Cliff "JohnnyBax" Josephy also cracked the top-six in chips with 1.326 million.

The two Vanessas chipping up on the same day is remarkable in and of itself. But when you consider the fact the two played at the same table for parts of the evening, it's quite amazing.

When Rousso was first moved to Selbst's table, she immediate asked Selbst if they'd played at the same table before. Selbst said no, and Rousso appeared quite happy.

"I've always wanted to play with the other Vanessa," Rousso said with a big smile.

Seiver and Selbst spent parts of the evening checking out the other's chip stacks and trading "suck out" stories. At one break, Selbst counted up Seiver's chips and noted she was now second in the room (behind Seiver).

The pace of play was remarkably quick for most of Friday. Play began at noon with 125 players. And about an hour later, it was bubble time, with tables playing hand-for-hand to determine which players would go home with no prize money, and which players would go home happy.

Players needed to finish in 104th place or better to win money, and even though nobody wanted to be the 105th-place finisher, it took only 20 minutes for the cash bubble to burst. The luckless 105th-place finisher was Nicholas Kamen, who called a pre-flop all-in bet with A-K. His opponent had pocket eights, and Kamen lost the race.

Once the bubble burst, players continued to exit the tournament at a rapid pace. And by about 7:30 p.m., only 33 players were remaining. Play slowed down after dinner, and ended at 11 p.m. when William Priest went home in 25th place.

Priest won $16,000 for his 25th place finish, as did Phil Ivey, who placed 29th. Other notable players eliminated Friday include James Akenhead (38th), Eric Froehlich (59th), David Williams (78th), Sorel Mizzi (81st) and Dennis Phillips (86th).

Play resumes Saturday at noon, when the final 24 players will play down to eight. Final table action begins Sunday at noon.
