Qualifiers begin for slot tournament

STOCKHOLM, Sweden -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- Red Flush Casino and Casino La Vida have this week launched the first qualifiers to the Grand Slam of Slots II tournament. As the follow-up to the successful 2009 event, which produced the first ever online slot tournament millionaire, the Grand Slam of Slots II tournament is now open with the first qualifier tournaments well underway.

“The Grand Slam of Slots is back and bigger,” said Alex Roberts, Red Flush Casino Retention Manager, “and Red Flush and Casino La Vida will be hosting a number of qualifier and daily tournaments for seats to the final.”

As a Microgaming initiative, the highly anticipated Grand Slam of Slots II tournament will this year comprise of a $290,000 prize pool with a guaranteed first prize of $100,000. The prize pool, however, is hinged on a progressive percentage-based formula that will increase in accordance with the number of participants. The tournament will additionally give away a bonus prize of $2,43 million in gold bullion to one player.

“The bonus prize,” added Roberts, “will be given away during the final of the Grand Slam of Slots to the first person who completes all of the pay table achievements within the Thunderstruck 2 video slot.”

Instead of being an open tournament, participants will have to qualify for a seat to the final of the Grand Slam of Slots II. Red Flush and Casino La Vida will, appropriately, run qualifying rounds from 14 March 2011 until Monday 22 May 2011, just five days before the final commences. The latter will start on 27 May 2011 and be limited to 5000 players, from which the top 290 will each be eligible for a share of the prize pool.

During the first Grand Slam of Slots tournament, Red Flush Casino, in particular, had two players in the Top 10, one of which finished second after he had been in the lead for most of the final.

“Red Flush seems to have the luck for players in these tournaments, which means that this year’s final will again see our players in the run for the grand prize,” exclaimed Roberts.
