PokerStars launches second WCOOP Challenge Series with $9 million guaranteed

ONCHAN, Isle of Man -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- PokerStars.eu has unveiled the schedule for a second WCOOP Challenge Series that will take place at the end of March. The World Championship of Online Poker spin-off series is scheduled for the weekend of March 28-30 and consists of nine tournaments, with a total guaranteed prize pool of $9 million.

The final day will see more than $5 million in prize money awarded to players, with a $2,100 Main Event at 15.30 ET and a $215 Sunday Million Special Edition at 14.30 ET. Both tournaments feature guaranteed prize pools of $2 million. Here is a full run-down of the tournaments:

Saturday, March 29
11.00 ET – WCOOP Challenge 03: $700 NLHE Progressive Super KO ($1m GTD)
14.30 ET – WCOOP Challenge 04: $1,050 NLHE [8-Max] ($1m GTD)
17.00 ET – WCOOP Challenge 05: $215 NLHE [6-Max, Turbo] ($250k GTD)

Sunday, March 30
11.00 ET – WCOOP Challenge 06: $215 NLHE ($1m GTD)
13.00 ET – WCOOP Challenge 07: $700+R PLO [6-Max, 1R1A] ($400k GTD)
14.30 ET – WCOOP Challenge 08: $215 NLHE – Sunday Million Special ($2m GTD)
15.30 ET – WCOOP Challenge 09: $2,100 NLHE Main Event ($2m GTD)

In addition to the huge cash prizes that will be generated, each event champion will receive a ticket to the 2014 World Championship of Online Poker Main Event and a customized commemorative money clip.

WCOOP CHALLENGE SERIES 1
The first WCOOP Challenge Series, held last December, saw a total of $11,659,825 awarded to players across eight events, with a total of 32,869 tournament entries. The Main Event was won by "DEHELLHOUND" from Singapore, who scooped a first prize of more than $500,000.
