PokerStars LAPT heads to Argentina

7 Sep 2010

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Grand final of the Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT) is just days away, set to close off the best year of the tour so far with more than $3,500,000 in prize money awarded, three new champions crowned, and even a first double champion.

The third LAPT season featured two new stops with the tour flying into the Peruvian capital Lima in June for the first time, before heading east and into Brazil in August, to the stunning beach resort of Florianopolis.

Now there's one more new stop to experience, and it might just be the best of them - the $5,000 Grand Final in Rosario, Argentina, a city full of beauty, history and excitement, the perfect location for the continent's premier poker tournament.

The Main Event runs 23-26 September with City Center Casino in Rosario welcoming hundreds of players from Latin American and around the world to what is the most luxurious casino in South America.

Not only will players experience the best tournament structure they'll also play in the casino's superb poker room, perfect for anyone wanting to win the grand final in style. While just outside is the sprawling city of Rosario which boasts fine architecture, culture and magnificent sights, in the heart of its busy metropolis.

PokerStars will be throwing a lavish party on the eve of the event, introducing a taste of local custom to proceedings and getting players in the mood for what could be the biggest tournament of their career.

"I don't think we could get better than this," said David Carrion LAPT President "The beautiful city of Rosario; the fantastic City Center Casino; hundreds of the best players in the world, all making for a fitting finale to what has been a truly memorable year on the LAPT."

Already the big names are queuing up to play, with Team PokerStars Pros Chris Moneymaker, Victor Ramdin, Dennis Phillips, Ruben Visser and Jorge Arias all heading to Argentina. Places are going fast but there's still time to book a seat in Rosario, and for much less than the $5,000 buy-in.

You can qualify for free on PokerStars.net, with more and more guaranteed packages up for grabs each week in the run up to the event. The package includes seat, accommodation and money towards travel costs.

In addition there will be live satellites in Rosario on the day before the Main Event, giving players a last chance to secure their spot.

"It is going to be a fantastic finale for LAPT season three," said Team PokerStars Argentina Pro Leo Fernandez. "Argentina has great players and this prestigious event is going to have an outstanding presentation and playing field. City Center is quite a setting. It is going to be the most important poker tournament in all of South America".

Numerous side events will run alongside the main event, giving players a second chance of a big score at a range of buy-ins.

In addition to a deep stack event the schedule boasts both Bounty and $2k events, as well as re-buy tournaments, a 6-max and ladies event.

There will also be a charity event featuring a roll call of local celebrities, such as Susana Gimenez, International soccer hero Juan Verón, the national hockey team's Luciana Aimar as well as tennis stars Gaston Gaudio and Mariano Zabaleta, will all take their seats. A televised High Roller with a $10,000 buy-in will wrap up the week in Rosario.
