PokerStars Caribbean Adventure updates schedule
9 Dec 2010
In response to the high player demand and rising interest from international television broadcast interests, some changes have been made to the previously-released PCA schedule. Most notably, the $5,250 buy-in NAPT Bounty Shootout Event, being filmed for broadcast on ESPN2 (USA), TSN (Canada) and Channel 4 (UK) among others, has been upgraded to a three-day, six-max triple-shootout format with a capacity for 216 players. The change was induced by the overwhelming interest in the 81-player NAPT Los Angeles Bounty Shootout Event.
Super High Roller Event
For the first time ever, the PCA is proud to host an open event for the most fearless players in the world: a $100,000 buy-in Super High Roller Event, also scheduled to be filmed for international broadcast. Team PokerStars Pros Daniel Negreanu, Lex Veldhuis, Humberto Brenes and Jason Mercier, plus Bill Chen and Dan Shak have already confirmed their attendance, with plenty more players expected. The Super High Roller is an event that is set to separate the fish from the sharks and the sharks from the whales, and is scheduled to take place from January 6-8.
PCA Main Event
The Main Event will again be the poker world's focal point come January, as the largest and richest poker tournament held outside Las Vegas gets under way. For the first time in PCA history, you'll be able to watch most of the action on television. Filming will start on Day 3 as the greatest players in the world battle it out for their piece of the PCA pie! Then, on Day 5, the webcast on www.PokerStars.TV will broadcast all of the action, showing every shocking river card, every crowd-pleasing check-raise, and each heart-breaking elimination, as 24 players are whittled down to one – the champion who will hoist the PCA trophy in the air!
When planning the PCA, we challenge ourselves to bring players the greatest poker experience found anywhere in the world. We strive to create the best schedule ever imagined, offering more games in more formats and variations than anywhere else, and we spread them at buy-ins ranging from $100 to $100,000 so that everyone can play. Our goal is to create the greatest poker room on the planet for 10 days and encourage poker players from around the world to come and play, have fun in the sun and enjoy the global community of our game.
We'd also like to congratulate Russ Fox from the online poker forum www.twoplustwo.com, who won our '2+2 Player's Choice' contest with his innovative creation of 'Binglaha' – an intriguing variation of PLO where the game can change after the flop from PLO to PLO8. Binglaha will surely inspire some very creative betting lines in the Bahamas. Almost 100 ideas were submitted to 2+2 and we left it up to the forum-posters to select their favourite. In a hard-fought final match-up of Binglaha and 'Badugaha', Fox's Binglaha took home the title by the tight margin of 215 to 194! In honour of his creativity, Fox will be granted his own event at the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.
