PokerStars attempting to set another world record

LONDON, England -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- To celebrate the upcoming PokerStars World Record Tournament attempt on December 4, PokerStars Radio returns for a special live broadcast, which aims to capture the excitement of a Guinness World Record in the making and give away hundreds of prizes to listeners.

The radio show begins at 17.00 GMT – just 30 minutes before the PokerStars $1 buy-in World Record Tournament gets under way as part of the 10th Anniversary Celebration. It will follow the same format as the popular WCOOP radio shows earlier in the year and will be presented by the poker broadcasting team of Nick Wealthall (PokerStars.co.uk UK & Ireland Poker Tour) and Joe Stapleton (The PokerStars.net Big Game).

As before, the show will aim to entertain with a mix of call-ins from the poker world’s elite players, studio banter from the hosts, and promotions and competitions galore with hundreds of prizes up for grabs. Here’s a run-down of the goodies to be had...

· Depositor freeroll – make a real money deposit with the bonus code given out on the show and get a ticket for a freeroll on December 18, that awards 20 tickets to the $215 10th Anniversary Sunday Million, which features a $10 million guaranteed prize pool.

· Call-in spot prizes – during the show 10 callers will win a 10th Anniversary goody bag, including special edition hat, t-shirt and card protector, while one extra-lucky caller will win an exclusive PokerStars Citizen watch.

· World Record Second Chance – listen to the radio show and pick up an exclusive password that will grant access to a second chance $1 tournament that starts at 18.00 GMT on December 4. In addition to the cash prize pool there will be 100 $11 tickets added to the special edition of the Sunday Storm on December 11, which has a guaranteed prize pool of $1 million.

World Record

The World Record Tournament is aiming to become the largest online poker tournament ever by surpassing PokerStars’ current record of 149,196 players. The $1 tournament on Sunday at 17.30 GMT features a $250,000 guarantee and a cap of 200,000 players.

First prize is a guaranteed $50,000, and there are $10 bounties on the heads of all Team PokerStars players who take part in the tournament.
