PokerStars announces return to Brazil
3 Jun 2010
"I am so happy that the LAPT will return to Brazil again this season, said Brazilian Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari. "It's got everything; players can enjoy the amazing surroundings whilst playing some of the best poker in Latin America!"
The event takes place at the all-inclusive Costão do Santinho resort on the north side of Santa Catarina Island, alongside the stunning Santinho beach, beloved of sunbathers, surfers, and fishermen alike. The resort boasts a golf course, sports and sailing complex, as well as the largest complex of indoor/outdoor thermal pools in Brazil.
Ringed by historic archaeological sites, lush dunes, and adventure trails, the resort sits on 185 acres of Atlantic rainforest and offers some of the best luxury service in the world. And amid it all will be the LAPT's US$2,500 +$200 Main Event.
This is a great opportunity for poker players to enjoy a unique experience, competing for the next LAPT title in a stunning setting. Poker players from across Latin America and the world have already confirmed their attendance including Brazilian Team PokerStars Pros Andre Akkari, Alexandre Gomes, Maridu Mayrinck and Gualter Salles.
"We are very pleased that the LAPT will return to Brazil for the penultimate Season 3 stop and anticipate this event to be one of the biggest in LAPT history," said LAPT President David Carrion. "The support from the government and the outstanding resort make for a combination that will help provide a one of a kind experience for players and their guests."
The easiest way to get there will be to qualify for the Main Event by winning a free package on PokerStars.net – to include the US $2,700 entry into the Main Event, accommodation in Florianopolis and a contribution towards travel expenses.
Players should keep an eye on the PokerStars LAPT tab in the tournament lobby, as satellites will be starting soon. The latest schedule updates will be available on www.lapt.com.
There will be full coverage of the event on the PokerStars Blog at http://www.pokerstarsblog.com.
