PokerStars and Monte-Carlo Casino EPT Grand Final features cash games for first time

ONCHAN, Isle of Man -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- has announced the schedule for the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino EPT Grand Final in Monaco, which will feature EPT-run cash games for the very first time.

The full schedule for the Season 9 finale of the European Poker Tour will be a true poker extravaganza, featuring an awe-inspiring 50 events across 10 days. The festival will run from May 6-15 and will for the first time feature a wide variety of cash games meaning that players can get involved in the world-class poker action even when they are not involved in a tournament.

EPT President Edgar Stuchly is excited about what it will mean for the players. “There will be a variety of cash games at the EPT Grand Final and we are sure this will appeal to players of all levels. We are particularly pleased that we will be able to offer these games with a very attractive rake level, and we are expecting this event to become the biggest cash game festival in Europe,” he said.

An exciting close to Season 9

The PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino EPT Grand Final will close Season 9 in style, taking in one of Europe’s most glamorous and exciting destinations, and will feature a wide variety of events in buy-in levels to suit poker players of all kinds. Hundreds of players are expected to qualify for the Main Event by winning satellite tournaments online at

Last season, Mohsin Charania from the USA won €1,350,000 after taking down the prestigious €10,000 Main Event with four other players becoming instant millionaires. Main Event runner-up Lucille Cailly scooped €1,050,000, Justin Bonomo won the €100,000 Super High Roller for €1,640,000 and runner-up Tobias Reinkemeier took home €1,064,000, while Igor Kurganov won €1,080,000 in the €25,000 High Roller tournament.

Super High Roller and High Roller Events

Befitting its location in Monaco, the EPT Grand Final will host several high buy-in events designed to attract the world’s very best poker players. These include:

· €25,500 High Roller Event (starting May 10)

· €100,000 Super High Roller (starting May 13)

· €10,300 High Roller (Turbo, 6-Max) (starting May 15)

Other schedule highlights

The festival will kick off with the €10,600 EPT Grand Final Main Event, along with a host of side events including a €2,150 Open Face Chinese poker tournament. This event made its tournament debut at the 2013 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure where it attracted 59 entrants and was eventually won by Canadian player Peter Jetten. In addition, there will be a host of daily tournaments and Sit & Gos starting from €220, plus a €1,100 NLHE tournament with a €500,000 guarantee, which players can qualify for online. Live satellites to this and all side events will be running daily from 12:00.

EPTLive webcast

EPTLive will begin broadcasting from May 6 and will continue until May 15. It will feature live coverage of the EPT Grand Final Main Event from Day 1A (May 6) until the final table on May 12, when the €100,000 Super High Roller event will continue the coverage until the end of the festival. The coverage will be broadcast live, as it happens, with cards-down until both final tables, when it will switch to cards-up with a one-hour security delay.

In the early stages of the tournament, viewers will be invited to vote via Twitter on which table they would like to see featured on the show – an innovation pioneered at EPT Deauville. This will allow viewers to experience coverage not only of the Main Event, but also selected side events, including the €25k High Roller. As always, the webcasts will feature expert commentary provided by specialist commentators, including Team PokerStars Pros and other star players.
