Nick Wealthall to host PokerStars UKIPT
(PRESS RELEASE) -- Nick Wealthall, a well-known face on the UK poker scene, has been signed by PokerStars to be the official host of the newly created UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT), which kicks off today, Friday 11th December 2009 in Galway, Ireland.
Having been involved in poker for over 10 years, including 5 years as a professional poker broadcaster, Nick is the perfect host and a great asset for the PokerStars UKIPT. This tour will bring the excitement and atmosphere experienced by thousands around the globe at PokerStars' global poker tournaments to a local level, embracing professional, experienced and novice poker players.
Nick commented: "I'm thrilled to be hosting the PokerStars UKIPT. Having been involved with the EPT I know what a great job PokerStars do with their live tournaments and I'm convinced it will become a huge asset to the UK and Ireland poker scene. If I wasn't doing this role I'd be trying to play in the tournaments myself, so I'll always have the player's perspective at heart and ensure that the events are accessible and inclusive, providing the players with the best tournament experience possible."
As part of Nick's role as UKIPT host he will provide 'Better my Poker' tutorials at some of the UKIPT events. Aimed at players looking to perfect their game ahead of taking their seat at the tables, as well as providing insight into what to expect of a live tournament environment.
Nick will also be hosting the fun and quirky UKIPT show 'On Tour', a 20-minute online show that can be seen at www.pokerstars.tv. Nick has previously presented EPT Live and Poker Night Live (the UK's first real time poker TV), as well as being a commentator and analyst on a number of poker TV shows on Sky Sports. Nick will therefore bring valuable insight and experience to the coverage of the PokerStars UKIPT.
In the spirit of the PokerStars UKIPT, Nick will also be writing regular blog and Twitter updates from every tournament, providing poker fans with unique glimpses into life on a live national poker tournament circuit.
On the PokerStars UKIPT Nick will be joined by Jude Ainsworth and J.P. Kelly, who have been added to the Team PokerStars PRO UK roster.
After the launch event in Galway on 11th December, the PokerStars UKIPT will visit Manchester, Nottingham, Killarney, Brighton, Scotland (city TBC) and Dublin, with the Grand Final taking place as part of the PokerStars.com EPT London event next October.
