Greek player wins $100,000 package from PokerStars
26 May 2011
Konstantinos “brave-83” Gennaios, 27, overcame 20,126 players from around the world in the Grand Final on Sunday, May 22 to win one of PokerStars’ biggest ever freeroll promotions and the ultimate VIP package.
Gennaios, who works for an audio-video production company in Thessaloniki, Greece, will now have the choice of going anywhere in the world, to watch any sporting event, with as many friends and family as he wishes, up to a maximum budget of $100,000!
Living the dream
Imagine jetting off to the Rugby World Cup in New Zealand this coming September, watching the Champions League final next May in Munich, and being in the stands at the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Sao Paulo! For “brave-83” this dream is a reality!
Speaking to PokerStars after his win, Gennaios said: “It was an unbelievable feeling reaching the final table out of a field of over 20,000 players. At that point I was pretty confident in myself that I could take it down, and that I was meant to go all the way. To tell you the truth, I still haven’t realised the magnitude of my victory. I’ve been playing poker for the last five years, with some small four-digit paydays, playing micro and low stakes, but never anything close to this.”
NBA Finals
When asked what plans he has for his prize, Gennaios replied: “I'm still considering what to do... If I decide to attend a game it will definitely be the NBA Finals, accompanied by six or seven of my closest friends. It will give us a chance hopefully to watch LeBron [James] and [Dwayne] Wade take down their first championship together. I’ve always been a huge NBA fan, so when I first heard about the promotion I immediately knew the NBA Finals would be my choice.”
In total PokerStars gave away more than $700,000 to freeroll players during the Game of Your Life six-week promotion.
