Betway signs Ross O’Sullivan and Katie Walsh as brand ambassadors

21 Dec 2018

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Leading online bookmaker Betway has signed a deal with Irish trainer Ross O’Sullivan and former jockey Katie Walsh to become brand ambassadors.

O’Sullivan, who rode as an amateur for Jessica Harrington and began training horses in 2011, will provide regular updates on the yard with blogs for the Betway Insider.

Walsh, who retired from the saddle earlier this year, holds the record for the best position achieved by a female jockey in the Grand National, finishing third on her father Ted’s Seabass in 2012.

She will be providing insight on the major meetings during the year, as well as key racing stories and issues.

As a couple, their most notable win came in the Grand National Trial at Punchestown in 2017 with Katie aboard stable star Baie Des Iles. Set to reappear in the Welsh Grand National at Chepstow next week, the seven-year-old mare could have another crack at the Grand National in April, where Betway are the official betting partner.

Betway’s Alan Alger said, “Ross is an up and coming trainer in Ireland and will give Betway Insider readers a fascinating insight into training horses.

“As for Katie, racing fans will be interested to know what she’s been up to since retiring from the saddle and her experience and know-how of racing will provide a unique perspective for our readers.”

Ross O’Sullivan said, “We’re thrilled to get started with Betway and looking forward to giving readers our thoughts and opinions on a variety of topics in racing as well as updates on all our runners.

“We’ve got a strong team of horses this year and we’re particularly looking forward to Baie Des Iles in the Welsh National at Chepstow next week.”

Katie Walsh said, “We’re really pleased to be partnering with Betway. It’s been very busy since I retired as a jockey earlier this year and this is an exciting next step.

“Irish racing is in a very good place at the moment and it’s amazing to think we’re only a few months away from Cheltenham and Aintree.”
