Top-10 poker faces

According to PokerZone.com, the definition of a "Poker Face", is "an unemotional or unexpressive appearance designed to prevent opponents from gaining information about one's cards or one's intended actions; a deadpan expression maintained irrespective of an exciting or disappointing circumstance."

Using that definition, here's Casino City's picks for the 10 best poker faces in the game today, with video to prove our points.

10. Doyle Brunson
Texas Dolly has been bluffing hands and stealing pots for decades. Like Chan, he has 10 WSOP and has won the Main Event twice. And, like Chan, he continues to play at a high level well into old age. Brunson, wearing his trademark cowboy hat, rarely expresses emotion on his face, making him a very tough player to read.

9. Vanessa Rousso
The popular PokerStars pro can be hard to read because, well, she doesn't give much away. Between the hat, the sunglasses, the long hair and headphones (at larger tournaments), there's not much information to be had. And we suspect that's just the way she likes it.

8. Greg Raymer
ESPN poker color man Norman Chad once said about Raymer's fluorescent eye-glasses that, "If I see a guy show up on the train looking like that, I'm taking the bus."

The Fossilman, of course, burst onto the poker scene in 2004 when he won the WSOP Main Event and along the way he had a couple of run-ins with Mike "The Mouth" Matusow. Check out these videos to see why Raymer made our list. In the first video, Raymer manages to keep his composure while Matusow berates him. Raymer gets his revenge at the final table – as seen in the second video – when he semi-bluffs his way to a huge pot that cripples Matusow and makes him look foolish all at once.

7. Daniel Negreanu
Daniel Negreanu's poker face has a lot to do with his demeanor. "Kid Poker" enjoys thinking out loud and can get very animated, especially if he has to make a big call. The four-time WSOP bracelet winner is often wearing a smile while at the table.

6. Gus Hansen
You won't find a more peculiar disposition at the table than that of Mr. Gus Hansen. The expressions he makes while trying to figure out if he should call, fold or raise are hilarious. And that makes it all the more difficult to figure out what's going through his bald head after he's made a move on you.

Check out this classic hand between the Great Dane and Daniel Negreanu during an episode of High Stakes Poker. Hansen methodically calls the action after hitting quads on the turn and when he goes all-in after the river, Kid Poker's reaction is priceless as he loses a pot worth nearly $600,000.

5. Chris "Jesus" Ferguson
There's no denying that the 2000 WSOP Main Event champ is one of the coolest customers on the planet. His poker face is validated in this video where the production team at NBC's Heads-Up Challenge use an NFL-analyst-type of look at how Ferguson's pose and demeanor looks the exact same while playing aces, a flush draw and a bluff. No wonder he was crowned Heads Up champion last year.

4. Phil Hellmuth
When Phil Hellmuth is yelling at his opponents, talking to god or congratulating himself, he has one of the better poker faces in town. His signature move is to put his elbows on the table, chin on his hands and not say a word. This clip shows both his poker face and a really minor blow up to a bad beat.

3. Johnny Chan
Johnny Chan has won 10 WSOP bracelets and you don't become that dominant of a player by having an easy-to-read poker face. Everything you need to know about Chan's poker face can be seen in the following video, where he completely schools Erik Seidel at the Final Table of the 1988 WSOP Main Event:

2. Peter Eastgate
One of the most impressive parts of 2008 WSOP Main Event champion Peter Eastgate's game is his poker face. It never changes. In fact, when he won the Main Event, it looked like it required some serious effort to break out of his poker face and into celebration mode. That consistency helped him become a champion, and earned him the second spot on this list.

1. Phil Ivey
No matter how high or sparse his chip stack may be, Phil Ivey always looks the same: angry. And that makes him difficult to read. In addition, the chip that Phil carries on his shoulder makes him that much more intimidating.
