This game is a 5 reel machine which has 20 pay-lines. Maui Madness is a multi-state slot machine which also features two bonus rounds. The initial state is a daytime beach theme. Once the first bonus round is activated and played out, the theme switches as if a volcano has erupted with the beach and all the symbols melted. Activating a bonus round once again will return the player to the initial state.
Boulder Mountain Bonus: This bonus round starts off where the user selects one of three Tiki heads, with each one representing a different value for the number of boul¬ders they will be able to use in the next section of the bonus round. Following their selection, the user is presented with the number of boulders they have achieved and then the next screen appears where the user is prompted to open one to five of the garage style doors at the top of the mountain. Once open, the user is prompted to start the boulders rolling down the mountain by clicking the lever indicated. As each boulder reaches the bottom of the mountain, they will individually fall into one of the 5 crates which range in value from a 0x multiplier to a 100x multiplier. The bonus completes when all boulders have entered the crates. The final bonus multiplier is calculated by adding up the multipliers achieved for each boulder.
Island Rescue Bonus: In this bonus round the user is a rescue helicopter that can carry island inhabitants to safely. The user is asked to choose four of the huts on the island, with each hut having a different number of inhabitants inside. Once a hut has been selected, the inhabitants exit the hut, indicating how many inhabitants the user has saved. Once all huts have been chosen, the bonus round completes and the final bonus multiplier is calculated by awarding a 10x multiplier for each inhabitant saved.
