Wynn Pursues Upscale Gamblers
LAS VEGAS – As reported by the New York Newsday: " Bugsy ("you'd be better off if you called me Ben") Siegel more or less invented the successful Las Vegas resort. But even that charming tough guy had a rough time pleasing everybody, what with his mob connections and his Hollywood pals and all those ma- and-pa bettors he had to lure to actually pay the bills.
"Stephen A. Wynn wants to reinvent the place.
"He wants Vegas to become the top destination for every upscale gambler in the world. And once that's established, he wants to export his managerial systems to those hot spots -- whether Monaco or London or Macao -- where players already love the flip of a card.
"…He has built or sold such legendary properties as The Mirage, Treasure Island the Golden Nugget and of course the super-elegant Bellagio. His old company, Mirage Resorts, pleased business management types for the way it was run, and it made investors 25 percent a year under Wynn's personal baton.
"…Aside from the usual superlatives, the $2.3-billion, 2,700-room Wynn Las Vegas will boast something that's quite unusual on the Strip, an on-site 18-hole golf course within a putt of the craps tables.
"…From this new worldwide HQ, Wynn Resorts should be set to go global…"
