WSOP Online $600 NLH 6-Max Championship bracelet for Halverson

30 Jul 2021

On Thursday night, the 2021 World Series of Poker Online continued with Event #30: $600 NLH 6-Max Championship, which attracted 523 players who rebought 260 times. The 783-entry field resulted in a $422,820 prize pool and after more than 10 hours of play, it was Mitchell "franzia" Halverson claiming the bracelet and $84,057 top prize.

According to WSOP.com, Halverson hails from Oregon and had 33 WSOP-related cashes totaling $69,365. That included seven cashes in gold bracelet events this summer, though his deepest prior run was 29th in Event #14: $500 No-Limit Hold'em. In the live realm, Halverson has $112,206 in lifetime earnings according to The Hendon Mob.

Among those to finish in the top 126 and get paid were Ryan "protential" Laplante (8th - $7,611), Tony "Panoramic" Dunst (9th - $5,835), Jesse "MrJesseJames" Sylvia (11th - $4,524), Kristen "krissyb24" Bicknell (15th - $3,594), Bryan "Pellepelle" Piccioli (18th - $2,875), Mike "Mouth123" Matusow (22nd - $2,368), Landon "ActionDealer" Tice (38th - $1,649), Carlos "carloswelch" Welch (44th - $1,649), and David "dwpoker" Williams (60th - $1,226).

Drew "dudeguydrew" O'Connell began the final table with just over a single big blind, so it was no surprise to see him fall in the very first hand. Not long after, the short-stacked James "Danfriel" Gilbert got shoved his last five bigs from the small blind with ten-five only to have Joshua "Kenjiboi7" Faris call with ace-nine from the big. Gilbert failed to get lucky and had to settle for a fifth-place finish.

Before the level concluded, two-time bracelet winner Nipun "javatini" Java bowed out after three-bet jamming the big blind with ace-deuce suited only to see Halverson, who had raised from the button, call with pocket tens. A third ten on the turn sent Java out the door in fourth place.

Next to go was WSOP bracelet winner Anthony "Nowb3Athat" Spinella, who was coolered after flopping two pair jacks and sevens only to see Faris roll over a bigger two pair jacks and nines.

That allowed Faris to take a 3:2 chip lead into heads-up play against Halverson, but on the very first hand between the two the latter won a race to double. The duo battled back-and-forth for a little bit before the final hand in which Faris got it in with top pair of aces with a queen kicker, which was no good against the two pair nines and eights of Halverson.

Final Table Results
1 Mitchell "franzia" Halverson $84,057
2 Joshua "Kenjiboi7" Faris $51,965
3 Anthony "Nowb3Athat" Spinella $36,363
4 Nipun "javatini" Java $25,834
5 James "Danfriel" Gilbert $18,604
6 Drew "dudeguydrew" O'Connell $13,615
