WSOP Europe announces 2015 schedule

7 May 2015

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The World Series of Poker Europe has solidified its tournament schedule for its eighth iteration with a new host country and venue expected to greatly enhance participation and interest.

World Series of Poker Europe is set for Oct. 8-24, 2015, in the Spielbank Berlin in Germany with 10 WSOP gold bracelet events up for grabs, plus a plethora of side events, including cash games, satellites and other daily tournaments. (Full schedule.)

In addition to a new locale and new venue, several exciting new bracelet events have been added, including "Oktoberfest," the WSOP's first €550 buy-in No-Limit Hold'em event in Europe (beginning Oct. 9,) and the least expensive pot-limit Omaha in WSOP history, a €550 buy-in tournament starting on Oct. 15.

Of course, the event concludes with two big buy-in events, which both will be broadcast for television, the €10,450 Main Event on Oct. 18 and the €25,600 High Roller event on Oct. 21.

"Germany is truly a hotbed for poker talent," said WSOP Executive Director Ty Stewart. "As home country to our reigning Player of the Year and 2011 world champion, we look forward to discovering new names ready to perform on poker's biggest stage. Berlin became a logical choice city for WSOP Europe given its proximity to all of Europe, the experienced management team at Spielbank, and the gap of time since a major poker tournament has come to the city. We believe this truly will be the best organized and contested WSOP Europe ever."

WSOP Europe will open Thursday, Oct. 8 with a €2,200 Six-Handed No-Limit Hold'em event. Several other fun events are on tap, including a Monster Stack event, an eight-handed PLO event, a Turbo No-Limit Hold’em and a Mixed Event.

"We look forward to this new edition of the WSOP Europe for the first time in Germany and specifically our property in central Berlin at the Spielbank Berlin (Casino)," said Marcel Langner, Spielbank Berlin Director of Operations. "It`s a great honor to host this event. We are sure all visitors will have a great time in Berlin. We will offer cash game and tournament play, as well as the Oktoberfest special to welcome our guests from all over the world. Welcome to Spielbank Berlin."

The Spielbank Berlin Casino has hosted large poker events in the past and is ready to host all poker play inside the casino footprint. For the first time, two full-floors will be dedicated solely to poker activities, creating more than 90 tables for cash games (from 11-5 a.m.) and tournament play.

Spielbank Berlin does not operate a hotel, but there are more than 25 hotels within a half-mile of the casino.

The 2015 World Series of Poker Europe will be televised broadly, including the expectation that ESPN will cover the U.S. and its international markets, and Sport1 in Germany. Live web streaming of preliminary events will also be offered. WSOPE remains the only European poker tournament to be televised in the United States.

For those curious about Oktoberfest and tying this amazing experience into your poker trip, this year’s version immediately precedes WSOPE and runs from Sept. 19 to Oct. 3 in Munich and more details can be found here.
