World Series of Poker 2022 Main Event officially kicks off

3 Jul 2022

(PRESS RELEASE) -- The 53rd annual World Series of Poker Main Event officially kicked off today for the first time on the iconic Las Vegas Strip at Bally's - Las Vegas, the future Horseshoe, and Paris Las Vegas with a special Shuffle Up & Deal moment by the 2021 WSOP champion, Koray Aldemir. This year’s tournament marks poker’s biggest return in history, with more than 125,000 entries in bracelet events and more than $200 million in prize pool awards so far. As the excitement reaches a fever-pitch at the new home of the WSOP, poker players from around the world have made their way to Bally’s and Paris for their chance to win the highly sought-after $10,000 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event bracelet.

“The WSOP Main Event is back and better than ever on the Las Vegas Strip,” said World Series of Poker Senior Vice President and Executive Director, Ty Stewart. “We are thrilled to see record-breaking turnout so far and expect that to continue for Poker’s definitive World Championship. In a summer of great stories, the Main Event is always the most exciting chapter, so we look forward to the fortnight ahead. If you’re not already in Vegas, get here quickly, as you will not want to miss this one.”

The WSOP Main Event has four total flights 1A-1D, spanning Sunday, 3 July – Saturday, 16 July and will feature surprise celebrity cameos and much more.

More than 25 online and in-person bracelet events will also take place outside of the Main Event tables through Tuesday, 19 July. In addition to the Main Event, players will also have the opportunity to compete in events such as Event #68: $1,000 Million Dollar Bounty No-Limit Hold'em and the new Tournament of Champions where every gold-bracelet winner from this year’s tournament is eligible to compete for the title of the top champion of the tournament.
