William Hill opens 2014 Kentucky Derby future book

LAS VEGAS -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- William Hill Sportsbook & Racebook is now offering future wagering on the 2014 Kentucky Derby, with a field of 101 Derby hopefuls headlined by Honor Code and Tap It Rich.

Both horses are currently listed at 50-to-1, followed by Commissioner, Havana, Mosler, Ride On Curlin, Smart Cover and Strong Mandate all at 75-to-1.

“We’ve timed the release of our Derby futures to give our customers a chance to lock in prices before the big races over Breeders’ Cup weekend,” William Hill US Director of Trading Nick Bogdanovich said. “With the Run for the Roses more than six months away, this is a great opportunity to get odds of 50-1, 100-1 and higher on some very promising horses.”

The 2013 Derby winner, Orb, had opening odds of 150-to-1 at William Hill before going to post favored in the race at 5-to-1.

Kentucky Derby future wagers may be placed at any William Hill Race Book location throughout Nevada. The William Hill Race Book nearest you can be found at www.williamhill.us. Customers may request to add additional horses to the wagering field in person at any William Hill Race Book or by e-mailing their request to marketing@williamhill.us.

The Kentucky Derby will be run on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.

The Breeders’ Cup will be run at Santa Anita on Friday, Nov. 1 and Saturday, Nov. 2. William Hill is offering a $5,000 Twin Quinella jackpot on Saturday. Several head-to-head proposition bets will be available for both days. Customers wagering $50 on Breeders’ Cup races will receive an official Breeders’ Cup souvenir cap at select locations.
