William Hill Continues Effort for Betting Shop
20 Jul 2005
UNITED KINGDOM – As reported by the Watford Observer: "Despite falling at the first hurdle, a betting firm still hopes to open a shop in Abbots Langley.
"William Hill was refused planning permission to change the use of 8, Langley Parade from an A1 retail unit to an A2 betting shop in June.
"Three Rivers District Council's development control board unanimously rejected the proposal because it said it would adversely affect the existing character and function of the local shopping centre.
"The council said many people rely on the shops in the village and they would be affected if another retail outlet was lost.
"However, William Hill has launched an appeal against the decision…"
