27 Jun 2007
ENGLAND -- As reported by The Guardian: "The chief executive of William Hill, Britain's biggest bookmaker, is leaving the company in search of a new challenge and to spend more time with his son.
"David Harding is to step down at the end of 2007, after seven years at the helm, and said he hopes to find another role in the business world.
"...In 2004, Mr Harding sent William Hill's share price tumbling when he cashed in almost all his stock options to help fund his divorce. He now has a son with his partner, and leaving William Hill will allow them to spend more time together.
"...Mr Harding joined the company from Scottish Amicable. He turned William Hill into Britain's largest bookmaker in 2005 by acquiring the rival chain Stanley Leisure for £505m..."
