William Hill awash with 'Mayweather money'

(PRESS RELEASE) -- William Hill, America's leading sportsbook operator, has seen nothing but Mayweather money over the past 24 hours. Nonstop Mayweather money has been coming in all day long and culminated with the biggest bet yet on the fight @WilliamHillUS, when one customer strolled into a William Hill sportsbook with over $1.2 million dollars in cash and put it all on Floyd "Money" Mayweather at odds of -500. That bet was separate from a customer that wired in $300,000 and bet Mayweather on the William Hill Mobile Sports app yesterday.

Notwithstanding, all of the Mayweather money showing, William Hill will still lose over a million dollars if McGregor lands a lucky punch.

The largest @WilliamHillUS bet so far on McGregor was placed back on 24 July, when a bettor made $150,000 in money line wagers ($50,000 on McGregor +475, $50,000 on McGregor +425, $50,000 on McGregor +425) that would net $662,500 with a McGregor victory.

With over 48 hours to go until the super-fight, the total dollars wagered at William Hill's 108 Nevada Sports Books and on the Mobile Sports app has already surpassed the total dollars wagered on the previous record bout of Mayweather vs Pacquiao (2 May 2015).

"It's going to be the biggest fight handle ever. Period. Whether it's boxing, gladiators or Game of Thrones," said Nick Bogdanovich, William Hill US Director of Trading.
