When do I place a pass line bet?
Hi Frank,
I went on an Internet site to play craps for fun money. I have a lot to learn so I'm going to buy five of the craps books, or should I wait for your new one coming out this spring? My question is where do you place the odds bet on the table?
My second question: When do you play the pass line, before or after the number comes out? I want to do some practice on the Internet to get the knack of the game. You got my interest.
You say: "The best mathematical way to play is to make a minimum pass line bet and back it with what you can afford in odds. So at a 10x odds game — and with your aversion to betting more than $30 — do a $5 pass line and back it with $10 or $15 in odds ($16 on the 5 and 9). Your expectation will be to lose just 7 cents per wager. Just make one wager."

Dear Jaggy:
The pass line and come bets with odds are the best bets at craps, short of learning how to control the dice that is. You place the pass line bet right away when the shooter gets the dice on his come-out roll. When the point is established the odds go behind the pass line bet. On the come bet, the dealers will take the odds and place them askew on top of the come bet when it is on the number.
Go here to get more information about how to play the game: http://www.goldentouchcraps.com/newtocraps.shtml.
Wait for my new craps book to come out this spring. It is the most complete craps book ever written and can take you from a novice to an advantage player. The title is Casino Craps: Shoot to Win! and is published by Triumph Books, a division of Random House.
All the best in and out of the casinos!
