West Warwick Agreement Deadline Looms
WEST WARWICK, Rhode Island – As reported by the Kent County Daily: "With the Nov. 7 election six weeks away, the clock is ticking for the West Warwick Town Council and Harrah's Entertainment Inc. to craft a host agreement for the proposed casino in West Warwick.
"The town council is meeting in executive session once again tonight to discuss the negotiation progress of the host agreement. The five town council members, Town Manager Wolfgang Bauer, and the town's attorneys, Christopher Friel and Anthony Desisto, will be the only people taking part in the executive session meeting.
"Bauer was supposed to have completed fire and police studies delivered to council members yesterday so they could review the studies for tonight's meeting, according to Council President John J. Flynn (D-Ward 2). Flynn said the documents, along with a report from a noise expert, will be released publicly after the council has reviewed them.
"When the negotiation process began, Flynn said, the goal was to have the host agreement made public so residents could review the agreement and make comments to their council people or at the public town council meeting in which the council would vote on the agreement…"
