WagerOnSports.com Updates Emmy Odds

15 Sep 2004

ST. JOHN'S, Antigua – (PRESS RELEASE) -- All eyes will be on television's brightest stars Sunday when the winners of the 56th Annual Primetime Emmy(R) Awards are revealed. WagerOnSports.com opened betting on the Emmys only minutes after nominations were announced on July 15, and with only a few days until the awards ceremony, the company has released the updated odds in the six major categories.

WagerOnSports.com has created odds on the following categories: Best Comedy Series, Best Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress in a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Lead Actor and Actress in a Drama Series. In the Best Comedy Series category, Arrested Development is the co-favorite, with Curb Your Enthusiasm at 2/1 odds (i.e., win $2 for every $1 bet). WagerOnSports.com currently has the late John Ritter as the favorite to capture the award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy at 4/9 odds. Meanwhile, Sarah Jessica Parker has overtaken Jennifer Aniston as the favorite to take home the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy award, listed at 5/7 odds.

According to the latest odds at WagerOnSports.com, HBO's hit mob series The Sopranos is in the running for a clean sweep of the major awards in the drama category. The show is now listed at 5/7 to capture the Best Drama Series award, extending its favorite status from the day of nominations when it opened at 3/2 odds. James Gandolfini comes in as a close second at 2/1 odds slightly behind Anthony LaPaglia, who has gone from being a 5/1 long shot to win the Lead Actor in a Drama award to now being the 3/2 favorite. It should come as no surprise that Edie Falco, who plays the first lady of the Soprano family, is the odds-on favorite to be named Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama at 20/21 odds.
