UNITE HERE Local 54 announces tentative agreement with Atlantic City casinos

(PRESS RELEASE) -- UNITE HERE Local 54 announced today that it had reached a tentative agreement on a new contract covering almost 4,000 cooks, housekeepers, bartenders, cocktail servers and other service workers at Caesars three Atlantic City casinos. The agreement is pending ratification by the members of these properties.

“We bargained through the night with Caesars, and our negotiating committee has recommended that the membership ratify the tentative agreement. We are glad that Caesars Entertainment recognized the importance of fair wages and benefits to the workers in Atlantic City. I hope that Tropicana and Taj Mahal get the message,” said Bob McDevitt, President of UNITE HERE Local 54. "This agreement is a big victory for 4,000 casino workers, middle-class jobs, and the Atlantic City economy."

With this agreement, the three Caesars properties are no longer under a July 1 strike deadline. Negotiations will continue today with Tropicana Atlantic City Casino & Resort and Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resort. If no agreement is reached with those properties, a strike will begin on July 1 at Tropicana and Taj Mahal.
