UK: Govt plans offshore gambling crackdown
15 Jul 2011
The plan is intended to "protect consumers" and "close loopholes" that currently give them advantages over British companies, the Guardian report said.
The proposals include one to change the gambling act to regulate where bets are placed rather than where the company accepting them is based, The Guardian said.
The intention is also to tax overseas operators, a full statement of the proposals is expected shortly, the report noted.
