Two tickets share $94.1 million jackpot

2 Nov 2006

UNITED STATES – (PRESS RELEASE) -- One lucky ticket in Arizona and one lucky ticket in Minnesota matched all 6 numbers Wednesday evening and will share the $94.1 million jackpot. The holders of the winning tickets will now have to decide to either take the 29-year, 30-installment annuity, or share the one time cash "lump sum" amount of $44,335,812.

There were a total of 528,601 additional winning tickets in America's Game Wednesday evening. Those winners won prizes totaling $4,472,736.

The numbers drawn were 7, 8, 13, 46, 54 and the Powerball was 35. The Power Play multiplier was 2.

Four tickets correctly matched the 5 white numbers and won $200,000. These tickets were sold in Connecticut (1), New Hampshire (1), Oklahoma (1), and Pennsylvania (1). One additional ticket in Kentucky not only matched all 5 white numbers, but also had the Power Play option multiplying the normal $200,000 prize by 2 for a total win of $400,000.

Thirty-one tickets matched 4 white numbers plus the Powerball and won $10,000. Seven additional players not only matched 4+1, but also purchased the Power Play option for a total win of $20,000!

A total of 94,613 winning Powerball plays were multiplied by 2 Wednesday evening. Winners were able to do so by purchasing the Power Play option for one dollar. With Power Play you can multiply your winnings, except for the jackpot, from 2 to 5 times. At the beginning of each drawing a wheel is spun to select that night's multiplier.

Players purchased more than $24.3 million in tickets between Sunday and Wednesday night.

The jackpot for Saturday, November 4th will be $15 million.

The lotteries sold more than $2.8 billion in Powerball tickets in FY06. That translates into more than $825 million for worthwhile state projects.

Powerball is now played in 29 states, the District of Columbia, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
