Triple Crown winner not a panacea for racing

KENTUCKY -- American Pharoah may have been the highlight of the racing season, but a Triple Crown winner will not solve all racing's woes, the Herald-Leader reported.

Churchill Downs CEO made this point during a discussion of the company's Q2 results, the report said.

Betting was up 3.5 percent during Q2 but the overall performance for the year remained deflated, according to the Herald-Leader report.
