This Week in Gambling: The casino vaccination situation in the US
26 Aug 2021
With some places in Las Vegas Covid vaccinations are required to enter, New York casinos now also have a vaccination mandate. As of 18 August, guests and staff at New York city casinos will be required to show proof of their Covid vaccination to enter the establishments. And beginning September 13th, inspections with enforcement will begin. Visitors twelve and over who refuse to comply will face fines of $1,000 to $5.000.
Meanwhile in Las Vegas news, some residents may get a little extra spending money, as they could be paid for getting vaccinated! As strange as it sounds, the Clark County Commission is pushing a pilot program in which people living in and around Sin City would be given $100 for receiving the COVID vaccination. Apparently, the county has some extra money lying around from a federal pandemic relief fund. That total comes to $100,000, and the Commission believes its best use would be to pay up to 1,000 for getting their Coronavirus shots. In a somewhat ominous statement, Commissioner Tick Segerblom stated “Going from the Raiders stadium to MGM, there’s going to be lots more places where you can’t work or go visit unless you can show you’re vaccinated.”
