This Week in Gambling: Casino reopening in Las Vegas and across America

20 May 2020

At least two Las Vegas casinos have set dates that they will either open or start taking reservations. A Treasure Island reopening and Wynn reopening have been announced, despite their seeming opposition to the Governor's phased opening plans. Also, the Gaming Control Board has yet to issue their reopening approval for any casino. However, there are some casinos opening across America, and more are coming this week and next.

As Wynn Resorts decides reopen its three U.S. gaming properties, poker won’t be available and the operator said it will employ social distancing protocols. Efforts to temporarily halt poker action at the Wynn Las Vegas and Encore Resort on the Las Vegas Strip and Encore Boston Harbor appear to jibe with a 23-page reopening plan released by the company last month.

Treasure Island Las Vegas announces health guidelines and a tentative opening date as it positions to reopen amid the coronavirus pandemic. Representatives at Treasure Island said it is dedicated to the health and safety of its guests, visitors, and staff as it makes plans to reopen to the public.
