The Reel Life: Zebra and parrot edition

Playing the online slots can make you thirsty. So every now and then, the Reel Life takes a break and heads to the local watering hole for a refreshing beverage. But we don't go with a zebra and parrot in tow. And as a Iowa man learned recently, that's probably a good thing.

According to KCRG.com, Jerald Reiter brought his pet zebra and macaw parrot to the bar with him earlier this month. Reiter says he sometimes brings the pets into the bar with him, but wasn't allowed to on this fateful day because they were serving food. So Reiter put the zebra in the back seat and the parrot in the front seat.

The bar owners told KCRG.com that they never allow pets in the bar.

After imbibing some adult beverages, Reiter went back to his car and started to drive home. Police pulled him over as he exited the parking lot and gave him a field sobriety test. According to the police, Reiter had a blood alcohol level of .14 and the legal limit in Iowa is .08. Uh oh.

Reiter claims he had just realized he was too drunk to drive and was pulling over to let a (human) passenger drive. He thinks one of the gawkers that crowded around him as he put his pets back in the car after they were denied entrance alerted the police and they were waiting for him.

Let this be a lesson to all Reel Lifers. If you're going drink, absolutely positively do not drive. And don't bring your zebra and parrot with you either.
