The Reel Life will never butt dial

6 Jan 2011

The Reel Life always leaves our cell phone in our front pocket. The following incident in Illinois illustrates a main reason why we do.

According to the Chicago Tribune, a SWAT team was called to a local middle school after a woman believed her husband was kidnapped. The woman believed this was the case because she received a garbled call from her husband's cell phone.

Winnetka police Chief Joseph De Lopez said the reason for the phone call had nothing to do with a hostage situation.

"You know how when you sit on your phone when it's in your back pocket and it calls the last number that was dialed? His wife was the last number he'd dialed," he said. "The conversation led her to believe there was someone holding him hostage."

The husband was also listening to hip-hop music when he made the call, which further lead his wife to believe he was in serious danger.

Of course, the man was simply the victim of the dreaded butt dial. This butt dial, however, was a very public one.

The Tribune reports that SWAT team members, armed with automatic weapons and wearing bulletproof vests, "circled the school about 5 p.m. Monday, searching for a reported gunman who might be holding a hostage. The all-clear sounded nearly three hours later, after the man was found safe at home by police."

No one will be charged in the incident, and Lopez said in the end it was "good practice" for his SWAT team.

The Reel Life takes comfort in the fact we'll never be the victim of a butt dial. A front dial, however, is still a possibility.

Life's a Beach

A member of Europa Casino since August 2008, Jocelyn Sirois was on cloud nine on Nov. 20 after she won $524,556 playing the Beach Life progressive slot machine.

Originally drawn to Europa Casino based on popular user reviews, Sirois quickly found out for herself why this online casino is a continual market leader.

"The things I first noticed about this casino (and continue to love) are the attractive homepage, the speed of the games and the overall design," said Sirois in an exclusive interview she granted Europa Casino following her big win.

"Europa Casino provides an excellent overall service. I'd say it's the complete package. The online support is highly responsive. They are quick to answer all of my questions and the tracking is excellent. The games themselves are easy to understand, and the explanations of the games (when I do need them) are clear and concise."

Although this wasn't Sirois's first time as a casino winner (she's won several smaller jackpots playing online keno), it was by far her biggest win. And, while it's always fun to win at casino gaming, a win this big can be a life-changing experience.

Sirois plans to take her winnings and retire, so that she can travel and play golf in Arizona. She also plans to continue trying her luck playing online casino games at Europa Casino.
