The Reel Life talks sports

17 Feb 2011

The Reel Life are big sports fans, but we rarely write about our passion. That changes this week with a story on a football player's interesting public intoxication arrest.

San Diego Chargers wide receiver Legedu Naanee was arrested in Indianapolis early Saturday morning for public intoxication and resisting arrest. According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, "Naanee came across an active crime scene at about 3:20 a.m" and was told by police to either turn around or move away.

Naanee did not comply, and police noticed that he had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. He didn't do himself any favors when he asked an officer why he was being "such an (expletive)."

Officers then informed Naanee he was being put under arrest. He resisted and was pepper sprayed.

He was finally put in handcuffs. He then allegedly said to the offices, "Do you know who I am? I am an NFL player and I'm going to sue your ass."

It wouldn't be a surprise if the officers had no idea who Naanee was. In fact, not a lot of NFL fans know who he is. Last year he had only 23 catches for 371 yards and one touchdown.

The Reel Life believes the "do you know who I am defense" only works for wide receivers with at least 50 catches.
