Meanwhile, the cab driver was waiting outside complaining that Geddie had not paid his $25.50 fare. When the cops showed up, the cabbie pointed them in the right direction.

Maybe Geddie went to rob the bank because he didn't have the requisite cab fare. And in his drunken state, maybe he thought his cab ride was so long that he'd need six figures of cash to pay it off.
