Sales data from CandyStore.com says that Necco's overall sales increased by more than 50% in the days after the article ran. Wafer sales specifically jumped by 63%. ABC News reported that a woman in Florida offered her 15-year-old car in exchange for a company's wafer inventory, which sounds fair.

Nothing to stoke desire like the threat of something disappearing forever —- even if that something is, quite frankly, pretty gross.

Unfortunately, there is a sad aspect to this story, and it's that hundreds could potentially lose their jobs. Someone, please buy this company, if not for the candy, then for the people.
