But in Stanton, Iowa, the locals are dedicated to their library. So much so that more than 400 people -- school children, senior citizens, parents, teachers and others -- formed a human chain that stretched six blocks in order to move books from the old library into what will become the new library. The chain moved about 3,000 books in an hour and a half.
“I thought it would be kind of neat to have this human chain, to have some fun out of it and get the community involved,” Jerry Gilliland, director of the Stanton Community Library, told Omaha.com.
The Reel Life thinks this is awesome, but imagine if this idea was put to better use. For instance, every time we wanted to order take-out, a massive chain of 400 people quickly delivered it to our houses in assembly-line fashion.
Sure, this might not be the most fiscally responsible method of food delivery. But libraries are also a huge waste of money – at least we get sandwiches in this example!
