The Reel Life: Hitman edition

28 Apr 2011

After a three-week hiatus, The Reel Life returns to Florida to bring the story of a woman using the age-old “reality TV” defense in a murder-for-hire trial.

According to ABC News, a 30-year-old woman who is on trial for allegedly hiring a hitman to kill her husband claims the whole affair was just a scripted ploy to get on a reality TV show.

Dalia Dippolito is accused to hiring an undercover police officer to murder Mike Dippolito, her husband. However, her defense team claims that it was actually the husband’s idea to hire the hitman.

Attorneys for Dalia Dippolito argue that “Mike Dippolito was a fan of shows like the ‘Jersey Shore’ and ‘Cheaters’ which lead him to plan a fake murder for hire so he and his wife could get their own reality show,” according to ABC News.

Mike Dippolito denies ever concocting such a plot. He said he was stunned to hear that only six months into marriage, his wife was planning on killing him.

The Reel Life is stunned by this too. We hear it usually takes at least 12 months for a wife to want to kill her husband.
