A Canadian man was arrested last week after unsuccessfully trying to run from the cops by escaping down the river on an ice floe.

The man in question, Mike Delahunt, is apparently infamous in his neighborhood of Moncton, New Brunswick, for the somewhat unusual crime of repeatedly golfing in a public park that is in no way suitably for golfing, and then attacking neighbors who ask him to knock it off.

Delahunt had been convicted and served time for an assault committed during one of these confrontations in 2013, and had stayed out of the spotlight for a while.

But last week, police responded to a domestic violence call, only to find that the assailant had run away by the time they arrived. A police dog traced the assailant's scent to the riverbank, and shortly after, the cops spotted Delahunt floating down the river on a chunk of ice.

He adamantly refused to be picked up by rescue workers who threw a rope to him, but this only helped him avoid capture temporarily, because, predictably, the river only goes one way, so it was pretty easy for law enforcement to keep track of their quarry. Eventually the ice floe bumped up against the shore, where the police were able to apprehend him.
