The Reel Life: Fake obit edition
15 Dec 2011
According to KWTX, 45-year-old Scott Bennett published an obituary for his mother in an attempt to get paid bereavement time off from work. The only problem? His mother was still alive.
His plan was foiled when relatives called the Jeffersonian Democrat to report that the mother was alive and well. The mother even went into the newspaper's offices to prove that she was in fact not dead.
Bennett was arrested and will face charges of disorderly conduct.
The Reel Life tips their cap to Bennett for really thinking outside the box by using the fake obit. But he should have gone with either the grandmother or the great-grandmother. Because there's a better chance that neither of them are alive.
