The Reel Life: Fake jewels edition

25 Aug 2011

The Reel Life has never robbed a jewelry store to score extra cash for our online slots habit. But if we did, we'd make sure the jewels we took were actually real.

According to CBS Denver, two men who wore heavy clown makeup held up a jewelry store in Denver on Wednesday. Video shows the men roughing up employees and even pointing a gun at one of the store's owners.

The two robbers forced the owners to empty their jewelry cases into a garbage bag. They then fled the scene.

However, that stolen loot may turn out to be worth absolutely zip. The two owners of the store told CBS Denver that "because the price of the precious metals featured in their jewelry has gone up significantly, what customers see in their store — and in most jewelry stores — is usually an inexpensive sample of what is ordered from the designer. The owners said that what the robbers stole is basically worthless outside the store."

“A lot of (what was stolen) are samples that are done in silver and they are plated, and the robbers don’t know that,” one of the owners said. “You don’t want to get killed over anything, but especially if it’s not real.”

The two men are still at large, and probably extremely angry. Because if you're going to dress up in clown makeup and rob a jewelry store, there better be some sort of payoff at the end.

First time's a charm!

A slots player is making the news at Windows Casino after winning nearly €196,000 a little less than a month since he joined the online casino. P.P. signed up at Windows Casino on July 19th and has scooped €195,992 on the Great Blue Slots machine on August 17th. If that’s not luck, we don’t know what to call it!

The player’s winnings were accumulated though a series of ten bonus games and some major single line wins. P.P. started on the Great Blue Slots with €100 bets per spin and a mere twenty spins later hit a first free games round which paid €5,292. Encouraged by this, the slots fan decided to increase his bets to €200 and four more free games rounds later had accumulated over €30,000 as winnings.

The greater part of his total winnings was earned during the sixth bonus game. One of the free spins uncovered six wild symbols on the first and second reels which resulted in a total of 21 lines paying for that one spin for an amount of €155,680. P.P. decided that since his luck was holding so well, he would further increase his bets to €500 per spin and there came a series of single line wins each paying between €1,000 and €10,000. The player ended his gaming session after four more free games round paid him a further €31,640, €17,600, €42,700 and €43,120 respectively.
