The Reel Life: Cheap beer edition

The Reel Life understands cheap beer. It doesn't like cheap beer. But it understands it. The Reel Life also knows that when lobbyists are picking up the tab for a $22,241.03 dinner, you don't drink cheap beer.

According to eater.com, the several Texas legislators (and staff, we're presuming) decided to go to dinner at III Forks, a steakhouse in Austin. About a 140 people were served, which makes the meal about $158 a head.

Much of the damage came as a result of bottle of wine and some pretty good liquor. But some in the group decided to drink Bud Light, Coors Light and Miller Lite. All three beers cost $5.25 apiece.

Let us be clear, the Reel Life would never consume Bud Light, Coors Light and Miller Lite when someone else was picking up the tab and willing to pay for the good stuff.

Should you be outraged by lobbyists spending more than $22,000 to take politicians out to dinner? Sure, if you want to be. But the Reel Life is more upset with the folks that ordered the cheap beer. What were you thinking?
