The Reel Life and the Hung Jury

22 Mar 2012

The Reel Life has never been summoned for jury duty. If we are ever summoned, and somehow lie in order to avoid it, we sure as hell won't go on a radio show and brag about it.

According to Fox31 Denver, Susan Cole was charged with first degree perjury and attempting to influence a public servant after she allegedly acted mentally unstable in order to get out of jury duty.

Cole, 54, was able to avoid jury duty after wearing "mismatched shoes, reindeer socks, and a shirt with the caption 'Ask me about my best seller,'" according to the article. She told the judge that she "suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder from military service, was the victim of domestic violence, and had been homeless."

A few months later, Cole called into the “Dave Logan Show” on 850 KOA radio and retold her story, using the name "Char from Denver."

Unfortunately for Cole, Judge Anne Mansfield was also listening to the show, and the story sounded quite familiar to her.

“One of the show’s callers related an elaborate story of how she deliberately dressed in a disheveled and uncoordinated fashion with the intent of appearing mentally unstable,” according to an affidavit. “The caller then indicated that her appearance had the desired effect as it drew stares from fellow jurors and she was ultimately excused by the judge in the courtroom.”

The District Attorney's Office checked the juror logs and tracked down Cole, who said that most of her story was true. However, that wasn't enough, and an arrest warrant was issued. She is expected to turn herself in next week.

The Reel Life has to applaud Cole for her very unique way of getting out of jury duty. But as we always have said, "those who boast will roast."

Just Monkeying around

Sky Vegas has announced the release of a new exciting slot game, which will feature as a fantastic addition to the already extensive online casino. The new game, exclusive to Sky Vegas, is titled "Monkey Business." This is a colorful five-reel, 20-payline slot machine with a wealth of exotic characters.

Players can select the amount they want to stake on a spin by changing the values of the stake per line, and the amount of lines they wish to place a bet on. The minimum stake amount is GBP 0.01, with the maximum capped at GBP 500 per round. The game incorporates new exciting bonus features that can greatly benefit the payout amount.

Should players match up three, four or five "Hunter" symbols on consecutive reels, then the "Hunter Feature" is enabled. The player is awarded 10 free spins, which are played out automatically. During this automated round, if the "Monkey Multiplier" character appears on the middle reel, then all of the current feature winnings will be doubled, tripled or quadrupled, respective of the number of Hunter symbols in that play.

"We are very excited to announce the release of another hugely promising slot game," said a Sky Vegas spokesperson. "These game types prove popular across the board with all of our players, due to the uncomplicated but captivating play, and the diverse option of stake amounts for each round."
