The Reel Life: All in a day's work edition

13 May 2015

Millions of people play the lottery everyday, and once in a while, someone hits it big and his/her life is changed forever.

In East Bay, California, a lucky man scratched an Emerald 10's ticket and wound up $1 million richer. But he reacted with just a shrug of the shoulders.

"I went back to the car and I just went home," Israel Martinez Sotero told SFGate.com. "It wasn't much excitement. I was like ... cool, I won."

Sotero says he plans to save most, if not all, of his winnings.

If more lottery winners were like Sotero, we probably wouldn't read so many stories about them rising to the top and then losing everything. But where's the fun in that?

The Reel Life wants lottery winners who promptly go and spend all of the money on brand new cars and expensive vacations. You know, depreciating assets that will be worth nothing when they're eventually bankrupt. Even better, it's more fun when the lottery winners spend the sticker number of their score, and subsequently are hit with a massive tax bill at the end of the year.

Now that's fun!

Sotero is probably the smartest scratch-off winner we've ever seen. And that's a damn shame.

Get in the fast lane, Grandma, the bingo game is ready to roll!

Innovative slots provider Magnet Gaming has offered operators a sneak preview of its latest slot title, Auction Day.

The three-reel game, which boasts eight paylines, is an exciting new take on the popular antique hunting theme, as featured in a number of television shows around the world.

Players have the chance to win two progressive jackpots on the game, which quickly became one of the top three performers on Denmark's SpilNu.dk site following a trial launch last month.

They can also enjoy three mini games featuring the collection of rare coins and the sale of precious antiques for cash prizes.

"Antique programs have been popular for a number of years now and we think Auction Day will be a smash hit with players and operators alike," said Magnet Gaming Head of Game Licensing Thomas Nielson. "Its universal appeal fits our philosophy of reaching out to the widest possible demographic and its low stake, high win approach chimes with a suite of games famed for their high retention rates."

Magnet went live with an initial roll-out of eight slots, including the popular titles Diamond Express, Golden Pyramid and Bank Walt earlier this year.

Their in-house design team is currently working on seven more games which will be made available over the next 12 months.

The company soft launches its games in its native Danish market in order to verify performance metrics and optimize the player experience before letting them lose on the international market. Auction Day is expected to be released in additional jurisdictions in June.

Founded in 2014, Magnet Gaming develop attractive slot machines in HTML5 that are designed to deliver a great gaming experience on multiple devices and operating systems.
