The Horses Race Daily On Sky Vegas Live

UK -- 15th September, 2004 -- (PRESS RELEASE) -- The Horses, Sky's interactive virtual horse racing show, has recently been launched. The show uses Orbis's OpenBet interactive gambling technology to store customer details and bets, and to calculate payouts.

The show goes out from 3:30 to 5:30 every afternoon on Sky Vegas Live (channel 295 on Sky Digital). The Horses allows interactive TV viewers to bet in real time on virtual races, and features live commentary from professional pundits.

Demand for the service has been strong in its first week. Richard Flint, Channel Head of Sky Vegas Live, said: "Now that we are live we are very pleased with the results, although this is very much the first step and we are planning to roll out other virtual racing products over the coming months."

Betting on virtual sports is a growing sector of the gambling business. Last year, virtual racing alone generated over £500 million in bets.
