Tabcorp attacks pokies plan

AUSTRALIA – As reported by the Melbourne Sun Herald: "Gambling giant Tabcorp has attacked the State Government's decision to remove almost 550 pokies from 64 venues in Victoria's worst problem gambling areas.
"'The extension of regional caps for electronic gaming machines in Victoria will do little if anything to reduce problem gambling,' Tabcorp spokeswoman Elise Sullivan said.
"…The regional caps follow a Labor backbench committee report that called for almost 1900 machines to be shifted.
"New Gaming Minister Daniel Andrews defended his Government's decision to impose less stringent caps than those proposed by the report…"
