Study: Harrah's Casino Won't Affect Traffic
WEST WARWICK, Rhode Island -– As reported by the Providence Journal: "A study commissioned by Harrah's Entertainment concluded that traffic generated by its proposed $600-million casino would have only minor impact on local roads and would cause little need for roadway improvements beyond traffic signals.
"…'We're not necessarily buying it,' Town Manager Wolfgang Bauer said of the study.
"Although Harrah's has failed in its effort, with the Narragansett Indian Tribe, to put voter authorization for the casino proposal on November's ballot, the company is expected to pursue the plan again next year.
"…The study makes public, for the first time, what Harrah's is proposing for its exclusive highway exit off Route 95, near the existing Exit 8. It involves a pair of frontage roads that would run parallel to the highway
"…'The traffic associated with the proposed Harrah's Narragansett Casino can be accommodated within the proposed I-95 frontage road system and the existing roadway network,' the study says…"
