Station Casino to Expand Casinos
LAS VEGAS – (Press Release) -- Station Casinos, Inc. (NYSE: STN) ('Station'or the 'Company') today announced expansion projects totaling $56 million for its Santa Fe Station Hotel &Casino and Fiesta Rancho Casino Hotel properties.
The $50 million expansion of Santa Fe Station will add more than 20,000 square feet of additional casino space, 350 slot machines, a new 16-screen Century Theaters complex with private viewing rooms, an upgrade of the property's 49,000 square foot bowling center, a new 6,400 square foot entertainment venue and bar, a new player's promotion area and a new 6,600 square foot Kids Quest facility.
Construction work at the Santa Fe is expected to begin in January 2004 and be completed by March 2005.
'When we purchased the Santa Fe in 2000, we envisioned a number of enhancements to the property to make it a complete regional entertainment destination for locals,'said Frank Fertitta, III, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. 'The demand for this expansion has been exceptional. The Northwest part of the Las Vegas Valley is one of the fastest growing areas in our community. This expansion enhances Santa Fe Station's position as the premier property in this area and provides new amenities that our customers have told us they wanted,'said Fertitta.
The $6 million, 31,000 square foot expansion of the Fiesta Rancho will bring a new ice arena to the property, complete with concession area, pro shop, locker rooms and private special event rooms. Construction of the ice rink is scheduled to begin in April 2004 with an estimated completion in September 2004.
